about us

Arthy Rural Services is a family owned and operated rural transport business, based at Laravale, 14km south of Beaudesert in Queensland. Ray and Kirtsey Arthy started the business in 1972 hauling molasses from northern NSW to local dairy farmers with a 4 tonne Bedford truck borrowed from Ray’s father.

Our fleet has grown over the years and now includes 9 prime movers, 12 trailers including tankers, tippers, walking floors and plant trailers in various shapes and sizes, 1 custom-built spreader truck and an array of loaders, tractors and custom-built fertiliser spreaders. We employ 10 full-time staff, with Ray and Kirtsey’s son Stuart as Manager, daughter Marion keeping the books and son David in the workshop.

Our products and services are varied, but all focus on supporting the local rural sector – hence our motto: ‘Specialised Services to the Rural Sector since 1972.’

We provide the following key products and services:

  • drum and bulk molasses and liquid feeds in 10, 24, 38 and 40 tonne loads;
  • bulk raw and aged chicken litter, gypsum, lime and organic type fertilisers;
  • soil testing and custom fertiliser blends;
  • spreading services and equipment available for broad acre applications;
  • poultry floor shed repairs, earthworks and soil screening;
  • small bulldozer, semi tipper, walking floor and flat top trailers available for hire.

We source our many products from Northern NSW, South East Queensland, the Central and North Queensland Coast and service dairy farms, feedlots, liquid feed and fertiliser manufacturers, landscapers, hobby farms, and fruit and vegetable growers from as far north as Bundaberg to Toowoomba, Boonah to Redland Bay, Mudgeeraba to Esk and everywhere in between!

Building Custom Soil Treatments.

As well as spreading chicken litter, we can also supply, deliver and spread bulk lime, gypsum, dolomite, crusher dust and micro-elements such as zinc, boron, copper etc.  We have been achieving great results from the mixing and spreading of custom fertiliser blends (“brews”), as part of a complete soil care plan based on your farms’ soil analysis (we can arrange one for you if required).  We work with an experienced Agronomist who gives sound unbiased reports and recommendations that are easy to follow and implement.

Arthy Rural Services can also refurbish chicken shed floors. We understand the importance of a well maintained floor, firm, compacted and free of loose gravel.  There is often a small window of time available between batches of chickens to complete shed repairs and maintenance.  As well as using our own machinery, we also utilise the services of local contractors who supply us with fill, rollers, compactors and any additional machines or resources required to do the job efficiently and professionally.

We use a specially blended fill sourced from a local quarry with a higher percentage of clay, thus helping bind the floor together. We have found that cheaper fill, or fill that has been dug from a hole onsite, often does not bind as well.  We have seen many floors done this way lifting up within a few months of completion and having to be re-done or repaired.  If you would like to chat with us about floor refurbishing please give us a call.
