Meet Bob…

Bob is our resident bobcat driver. Yes, you read that correctly! Employed 4 years ago to originally wash trucks, we soon discovered Bob’s wealth of knowledge, valuable experience and love for mechanics.  Now, we have him doing a bit of everything and he is proving himself to be an invaluable asset to Arthy Rural Services.   Behind the scenes, however, Bob is so much more…

Bob would like nothing more than to travel around Australia at his leisure, in style, in a bus, as a professional country singer! Whilst we haven’t spoken to his wife, Suzie, yet to confirm the rumours of amazing vocal chords, nor have we heard them ourselves, it would seem that Bob has it in the genes!  With his grandfather singing with the likes of the McKean sisters and Tex Morton, and his cousin sharing vocals with Kasey Chambers, Bob has been told to quit his day job!  A karaoke Christmas party on the cards, maybe?

When Bob is not stretching his vocal chords at home, his love of engines keeps him occupied.  Nestled in Woodhill with amazing views of the local ranges, is Bob and Suzie’s 2.5 acre property.  Enough room for a big shed to house his many projects, a 1970’s Landcruiser, a 1962 EK, and his baby, the Honda Fury!  Bob’s love of motorbikes stems from his childhood on the family dairy farm in Beechmont.  Some of his fondest memories are of “dirt bikes and open space”, says Bob. Bob went on to recall a compound fracture in his leg due to coming off his bike on the farm when he was seventeen, which kept him immobile for 9 months, and which he then re-broke tripping over a vacuum cleaner whilst off work for three severed fingers…  I stopped him there!

Whilst Bob doesn’t consider himself ‘accident prone’ he does consider himself a ‘homebody’. Relaxing at home is one of his favourite things to do with wife Suzie, and two staffies Cougar and Jessica.  When we asked Bob what he enjoys most about his job, he described it as “no stress, laid back and cruisy”.  Hopefully this means Arthy Rural Services feels like a second home to Bob because he is definitely one of the family.
